He moved steadily through the seemingly endless darkness. Shila had no idea her room was this big, she thought in wonder, or was Fiaka just moving that slowly?
Where was he slithering to? He would probably soon reach the door of her tiny room; it couldn’t be much longer! That’s what she thought.
Then she saw a little light in the distance, which Fiaka apparently headed toward. That must be the door! The closer they got to this strange, unreal, distant light, the brighter and larger it became.
It didn’t take long before they were very close to the gate, so much so that the light blinded them. It was dazzling, and she could see nothing anymore. Fortunately, this shrill, bright moment lasted only briefly; after just a few moments, once they were in a kind of transition, they found themselves in a completely different place!
They were standing in the middle of a lush green meadow!
It hadn’t been her room’s door after all, but a portal to another world, through which they had run!
This meadow was bordered by all kinds of flowers, and before them stretched a blue, clear sky, pierced by strong, warm sunbeams.
“Incredible!” Shila marveled, overwhelmed that she suddenly seemed to be somewhere entirely different, and her heart began to pound wildly with joy. Was this a dream!? What on earth was going on?
“What’s going on here?” Shila asked, excited and amazed.
“This is a new ere, a new world. We traveled through a daŕi, which means we went through a portal!” Fiaka explained to her.
But Shila’s attention drifted away, because as she looked around and took in this glowing place, which was in stark contrast to the darkness of her room, only two words escaped her lips: “So beautiful!”
She didn’t want to say more in view of this magnificent and vibrant place.
Driven by a fireworks display of soothing feelings, Shila climbed down from Fiaka’s back and took a closer look around: Falcons, an eagle, and many other birds she had never seen before flew in the sky. A few steps behind her, she spotted a pointed, gray rock, edged with green, undefined patches.
The rock was quite large, and around it as well as on it, ibexes grazed. The meadow was surrounded by a forest, which seemed to consist mostly of oaks and willows. The large, wide meadow curved like a hill and seemed to be a meeting place for all kinds of animals.
